Hope vs Reality. New advances in fertility treatments

Yes, recent news about advances in fertility treatments may offer some women hope, as reported in this week’s Globe and Mail article, Over 40 and trying to conceive?  But the reality is, even with all the improvements in reproductive technologies, as a woman ages her fertility declines, the rate of miscarriages increases, and pregnancy is associated with more complications.

I wish there was a way to easily determine when we are physically, emotionally and financially prepared for pregnancy. There may not actually be a best time when everything is in place, and it differs for everyone. But what we cannot deny - and what women and their partners need to recognize - is that delaying pregnancy until you are 35 or older (despite the fact that it is possible) can have significant impacts on the health of both mother and baby.
