Healthy Babies, Healthy Children - Grey Bruce Health Unit

The Healthy Babies, Healthy Children program is a free, confidential and voluntary home visiting program for families in Grey and Bruce counties with children up to 6 years of age. The team of public health nurses and parent support workers provide support and information on topics such as caring for a new baby, feeding and nutrition, growth and development, discipline, as well as many other issues.  They can also refer you to other helpful community resources and agencies in your area. The Ontario Early Years Centres are a place for children up to the age of six and their parents and caregivers to take part in programs and activities together. The Ontario Early Years Centres also bring together in one location information about children's services and programs in the community. If you have questions about your child's development, or want to know how to get information or services for your child aged 0-6 in your area contact your local centre.

Village Mommy is a free service with a mission to bring the supportive village feel back to modern motherhood.  The service help moms find other moms within walking distance who have babies/kids the same age as them. Peer support is proven to help moms' mental health and even improves outcomes for babies!

The MotHERS Program Smoking Information
The MotHERS Program website provides information on the risks of smoking during pregnancy. As well, it provides links to provincial and national programs for smoking cessation.

Exercise and Pregnancy Helpline

The Exercise & Pregnancy Helpline is a free service offering information to any pregnant or pre-pregnant woman who has questions related to exercise during pregnancy. This includes athletes, active women and those who want to begin an exercise routine during pregnancy. It is serviced by Sport CARE physicians, physiotherapists and athletic therapists and affiliated with Motherisk at the Hospital for Sick Children.

La Leche League Canada
La Leche League Canada encourages, promotes and provides mother-to-mother breastfeeding support and educational opportunities as an important contribution to the health of children, families and society. They run local information and support groups in many communities throughout Canada.

Metis Nation of Ontario, Healthy Babies, Healthy Children
The MNO Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program, funded by the provincial government is a prevention/intervention strategy for families with children aged 0-6.  It includes preparation for parenting, prenatal and postnatal care. The goal is to assist all Aboriginal families in providing an environment for the healthy development of children through home visits, service coordination and referrals. The program, which provides support for children at risk, is voluntary and open to any Aboriginal family who requests the service.

This program and website, run through Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, is an excellent resource for information on what is safe when you are pregnant and breastfeeding.
