Confirm your pregnancy at home with a urine test, or at your doctor's office with a blood test.

Confirming Pregnancy

If you suspect you may be pregnant, you can confirm by using an over the counter home pregnancy urine test, or you can see your health care provider for a blood test. A blood test is more accurate in detecting the pregnancy hormone, hCG or human Chorionic Gonadotropin and can indicate if you are pregnant even before you have missed your period.

Modern home pregnancy tests are also extremely accurate in determining pregnancy but cannot detect the hCG hormone until after implantation which can occur anywhere from 6 to 12 days after a woman conceives. If the test is done too early, a false negative result may occur in which case you can repeat the urine test a few days later or see your health care provider for a blood test.
