Prenatal Tours

Birthing Unit Tour - Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre

Volunteers will be providing tours of the Birthing Unit on the second Wednesday and the last Thursday of every month (except statutory holidays). There are two tours during each session, one at 7:00pm and the second at 8:00pm. Registration is required to attend the tour and will be booked on a first come, first served basis. To register for a tour, call Monday-Friday between 7:30pm and 9:30pm.
Note: the potential activity of the unit may limit what is available for viewing.

Prenatal Tours - Georgian Bay General Hospital

We offer FREE In-Person and Online Prenatal Classes.

In-Person Prenatal Class : provides an opportunity to meet other pregnant
people and families, talk about pregnancy, birth and newborns and get answers
to your questions and concerns from a public health nurse - includes labour,
comfort techniques, medical procedures, breastfeeding, newborns, after baby
comes, and community services and more.

Online Prenatal Class: choose the information that interests you, learn at
your own pace, when and where you are most comfortable - includes Pregnancy
(prenatal care, prenatal tests, baby’s growth, body changes, mental health,
eating and weight gain, physical activity, sex, preterm labour, alcohol,
drugs and smoking safety, special considerations), Labour and Birth (labour,

Prenatal Clinic - Stevenson Memorial Hospital

The Prenatal Clinic at Stevenson Memorial Hospital is designed for pregnant women who need prenatal care from the time they get pregnant until they are referred to an obstetrician or midwife later in the pregnancy. The clinic is for expectant mothers who do not have a family physician in the area, or whose family doctors do not provide prenatal care. The clinic can link you to a number of healthcare professionals and support services. A physician’s referral is not required to be seen in the Prenatal Clinic.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Session - Barrie & Community Family Health Team

This 2 hour class will teach you about the benefits of breastfeeding, how to to breastfeed, how to establish good milk supply, how to know your baby is getting enough milk, and were to seek help following delivery. It is recommended that you attend this session during your second trimester. Please call to register for a session.

Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) is a voluntary program for women and their families in the prenatal period and families with children from birth until their transition to school. HBHC offers support in the home (assessment, teaching, referral and service coordination) for every child and parent identified with challenges to provide opportunities to achieve healthy pregnancy, nutrition and feeding (including breastfeeding), healthy child development, safety, adjusting to parenthood, accessing community resources, and more.

Warmline - Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital

The warmline is a 24 hour telephone advice service available for new parents up to three weeks after delivery. Nursing staff are available to provide health teaching and post delivery information.

Breastfeeding Clinic - Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital

This clinic provides women with an opportunity to receive expert nursing advice and to ensure that breastfeeding is successful. The clinic is available from 10:30am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday. At this clinic lactation consultants are available to assist you with positioning and latch, to teach you how to recognize your baby's breastfeeding cues, and to help solve any breastfeeding issues. Appointments are available during the day on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with a lactation consultant, and Fridays with a public health nurse. Please call to book an appointment.

Village Mommy is a free service with a mission to bring the supportive village feel back to modern motherhood. The service help moms find other moms within walking distance who have babies/kids the same age as them. Peer support is proven to help moms' mental health and even improves outcomes for babies!
