Healthy Babies, Healthy Children - Grey Bruce Health Unit

The Healthy Babies, Healthy Children program is a free, confidential and voluntary home visiting program for families in Grey and Bruce counties with children up to 6 years of age. The team of public health nurses and parent support workers provide support and information on topics such as caring for a new baby, feeding and nutrition, growth and development, discipline, as well as many other issues. They can also refer you to other helpful community resources and agencies in your area. Call to register for the program.

Program Information

The arrival of a new baby, whether it’s a first child or a third, is a happy and exciting time.Being a parent can be one of the most rewarding experiences of a lifetime.  Many parents prepare themselves for their new parenting role.  However, they discover that parenthood is quite different from the experience they expected. Many parents find the transition and adjustment to parenthood to be challenging new role.  The Grey Bruce Health Unit offers various ways for new parents to get the information and support they need. Follow the link above for information and resources.

Infant Feeding Resources - Grey Bruce Health Services

Breastfeeding is learned and it can take some time for mother and baby to feel comfortable and confident during feedings. Our nursing staff and Lactation Consultant are available to support you and your baby during this important experience. Our hospital has a Board Certified Lactation Consultant on staff Monday-Friday to assist mothers with breastfeeding in hospital. Additionally, our nurses are all trained in breastfeeding support and are with you 24hr/day to help ensure you and your baby are off to a good start. A follow up appointment may be booked for you with the outpatient breastfeeding clinic at the hospital (Monday- Friday 9-4pm).
