A Public Health Nurse is available to answer questions about health issues and community resources from 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Prenatal Classes - Renfrew County and District Health Unit

Prenatal classes are offered in Arnprior, Barry's Bay, Pembroke, Renfrew, and Petawawa. Classes are taught by Public Health Nurses and are offered as a 7 week class series or as a full-day weekend class series. Topics covered include; fetal development, nutrition, labour, delivery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and infant safety. Please call the Health Unit for more information about class times and locations, and to register for your desired series.

Healthy Babies, Healthy Children - Renfrew County and District Health Unit

This program is a free, confidential and voluntary home visiting program for parents up to age six. A Public Health Nurse of a family visitor may support you when your baby comes home, help connect you with community resources, or provide you ongoing guidance on parenting, feeding, and caring for your child. Parenting Support - Renfrew County and District Health Unit

A number of support groups, drop ins and clinics are available to families with children up to six years of age in Renfrew, Arnprior, Pembroke, Deep River, Eganville, Petawawa, and Barry's Bay. They offer health information, childhood immunizations, consultation and screening about children's growth and development, dental health screening, and speech development consultations. Appointments are required for immunization and dental screening only. Please call or follow the link above for times and locations in your community.

24 Hour Mental Health Crisis Line

The line is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by trained staff and volunteers. When needed this bilingual service provides screening, assessment, referrals, support in a crisis, suicide intervention, and transfer to the crisis team or emergency medical services.
